Feeding the hungry homeless community in Downtown San Jose
When was the last time you helped out somebody in need? Do you even remember the last time a homeless person asked for your help and you helped them? The number of homeless people is vast. They are a community within themselves and are in dire need.
Instead of buying a $12 lunch, how about you pass on the soda and give that homeless guy around the corner $1? Or better yet, buy him a snack or small lunch for a few bucks. Is it REALLY going to hurt you that much? Probably not, but to him\her it'll make their day and hold off their hunger for a few hours. Regardless of whether it's their fault for being in the position their in or not, let's help them get out of it! Because honestly, that homeless person could have easily been me or YOU!
Last week, I joined a few folks who had arranged a local homeless feed and hit downtown with them. We made little lunch bags with a turkey sandwich, yogurt, granola, and fruits, along with a drink. We headed to Downtown San Jose to St. James park and passed them all out. We manged to feed nearly 50 hungry homeless people. We spent time with them and really got to understand their situation. I documented all this, you can take a look. by clicking here.
